AIRPORT SITE PLAN - Note: The following permits relate to Additions, Alterations, and Building of multi-family, commercial and industrial property
  • Purpose of Permit
  To assure development complies with Airport zoning (City Zoning Ordinance, Section 13).
Who May Apply?
  Owners/Developers
Is A Fee Required?
  Yes. See City Development for current amount.
Important Information.
  Required for all non-residential development located within Airport Overlay districts 2, 3 and 4. Assures that development complies with the provision of the Airport overlay district. No construction permits may be issued until this approval has been obtained. Owners/developers must include site, building and lighting plan. Contact the Department of City Development for specific standards. The following departments are involved in plan review: Airport, City Development, Public Service, Kenosha Water Utility, Kenosha Fire Department, Neighborhood Services & Inspections.

ANNEXATION PETITION
Purpose of Application
  Owners/electors, to request annexation of property to the City.
Is A Fee Required?
  No
Important Information.
  Requires review by Public Works, Neighborhood Services & Inspections, Water Utility, Kenosha Fire Department, Kenosha Police Department, City Clerk/Treasurer and County Health Division.
Requires approval from City Plan Commission, Public Works Committee, the State Department of Administration and the Common Council.

CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS
Purpose of Application
  To ensure proposed work is in accordance with standards of Section 15 of the City Zoning Ordinance and the standards for rehabilitation of the Secretary of the Interior.
Who May Apply?
  Owners/contractors.
Is A Fee Required?
  No.
Important Information.
  Application may require one or more of the following material samples, photographs, site plan and architectural drawings.
Requires approval from the Historic Preservation Commission.
After receiving Certificate of Appropriateness, applicant may then request a Building Permit through Neighborhood Services & Inspections.

CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT (C.U.P.)
Purpose of Permit
  Assures development complies with specific C.U.P. standards listed in Section 4 of the City Zoning Ordinance.
Who May Apply?
  Owners/developers.
Is A Fee Required?
  Yes. See City Development for current amount.
Important Information.
  Required for all uses listed as "conditional" in the City Zoning Ordinance. The permit must be obtained before any building or construction permits are issued. Owner/developer must provide building, site, drainage, utility and landscape plans. Contact the Department of City Development for specific standards.

LAND DIVISION APPLICATION
  • Purpose of Application
  For compliance with Chapters 17 and 35 of the Code of General Ordinances, the City Zoning Ordinance and any neighborhood or master plans for the area, and for Chapter 236 of the Wisconsin State Statutes. Applies to any land division, lot line adjustment or condominium plat.
  • Who May Apply
  Owners, Developers.
  • Is A Fee Required?
  Yes. See City Development for current amount.
  • Important Information.
  Owners, Developers must provide a certified survey, including a certified survey map and drainage plan. They must provide the following information on the subdivision: a plat, legal description, street and drainage plan, sanitary sewer and water main, street lighting plan, a landscape plan and a homeowners' association. They must also provide a plat of a survey, which includes a survey, a legal description and a drainage plan. Requires inspections by City and Kenosha Water Utility engineers or by a qualified consulting engineer. Requires review by City Development, Public Works, Kenosha Water Utility, Neighborhood Services & Inspections, Kenosha Police Department, Parks-Forestry and Transportation.

REZONING APPLICATION
  • Purpose of Application
  To request a change in the zoning on property (Section 10 of the City Zoning Ordinance).
  • Who May Apply?
  Current property owners.
  • Is A Fee Required?
  Yes. See City Development for current amount.
  • Important Information.
  Requires review by City Plan Commission and approval by the Common Council.

SITE PLAN PERMIT
  • Purpose of Permit
  To assure that new non-residential buildings/structures are non-residential additions comply with standards in the City Zoning Ordinance. The permit must be obtained before any building or construction permits are issued (Section 14 of the City Zoning Ordinance).
  • Who May Apply?
  Owners/developers
  • Is A Fee Required?
  Yes. See City Development for current amount.
  • Important Information.
  Owner/developer must provide building, site, drainage, utility and landscape plans. Contact the Department of City Development for specific standards.

 VACATE PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY Application/Petition For Street or Alley Vacation
  • Purpose of Application
  To close (vacate) an alley or street.
  • Who May Apply?
  Abutting property owners.
  • Is A Fee Required?
  No fee is required.
  • Important Information.
  Requires review by City Plan Commission and Public Works Committee and approval by the Common Council. Application is also forwarded to all public utility companies.
